Why can't all changes be done straight away?

Practice Websites by Livi are designed to minimise the effort required to maintain your website. As a result, some changes can only be made by our development team.

Some of the pages on our website are shared across all of our customers. Any change to their content or layout needs to go through our development team.

Why has Livi built the system in this way?

All our pages have been carefully designed by our expert team, and tested with patients. As a result, we can be sure that they:

  • are easy for patients to understand and
  • will reduce the need for patients to call the surgery.

Our tests show us that even small changes to a page can make it harder to use. At Livi we're passionate about delivering a great experience for patients. Consequently, we make sure that every change is carefully considered and tested with patients.

Some pages are used by almost all patients, and so we work extra-hard to make sure that changes to these pages are carefully controlled.

Which changes need to go through the development team?

The vast majority of website changes can be undertaken by our support team.

More complex changes may need input from our content team, but not our engineering team:

  • Creation of new content pages
  • Significant changes to existing content pages.

Some of our pages contain more complex elements, which need work from our engineering team to make changes:

  • Homepage
  • Contact Us page
  • The key "task" pages for patients:
    • Appointments
    • Order a repeat prescription
    • Get test results
    • Register as a patient

How long do changes take?

Sometimes what looks like a complicated change can be very simple to implement. On other occasions, a seemingly simple change can require a lot of design and development work.

We carefully prioritise our work using the following principles:

  • We aim to help as many patients as possible
  • We exist to save practice staff time.

No matter what your request is, we'll always let you know when we plan to work on it, and when we'll get back to you with more precise timescales.
